Another Popular Streaming Service Will Raise Its Price Soon
Through the first few months of 2026, several major streaming services have either implemented raised prices or announced forthcoming hikes. Netflix, Paramount Plus, Amazon Music and Spotify are just some of the streaming platforms that cost more now.
According to a recent message to subscribers, Acorn TV will be a little more expensive for DirecTV customers beginning in May.
How it works
DirecTV folds Acorn TV into its streaming and satellite packages as a premium add-on. According to Cord Cutters News, the company sent a notice to customers recently notifying them that Acorn TV will now cost $1 more starting with the upcoming billing period.
"The email detailed that the modest hike applies directly to the Acorn TV channel or on-demand library accessed through DIRECTV accounts, with no additional fees or alterations to the overall service package mentioned," writes Cost Cutters' Luke Bouma.
"This price adjustment occurs against a backdrop of ongoing cost pressures in the streaming sector, where providers frequently recalibrate fees to cover rising expenses for content licensing, production, and platform maintenance. Industry analysts note that incremental increases of this scale have become routine across major and niche services alike as they seek to balance profitability with subscriber retention.
In total, DirecTV users who bundle Acorn TV with their plans will pay an extra $12 a year. If you subscribe to DirecTV and don't use Acorn, your bill won't be affected.
