Quick Reaction: Raptors 113, Cavaliers 126
| Toronto Raptors | 113 | Final |
126 | Cleveland Cavaliers |
C- | J. Poeltl21 MIN, 4 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1-2 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-2 FT, 2 BLK, 2 TO, 0 +/- Offensively, he was underwhelming. He had some good defensive possessions on Mobley, played passable drop D at times, and made up for a turnover by blocking a shot. He also got killed by Jarrett Allen on the perimeter, early in the game. We will need more from him offensively.
B- | S. Barnes32 MIN, 21 PTS, 1 REB, 7 AST, 0 STL, 6-14 FG, 3-4 3FG, 6-9 FT, 0 BLK, 5 TO, -22 +/- Got off to a sizzling start, knocked down three 3s. Filled in various roles and was stretched very think. Played some strong defence on Mobley.
C+ | B. Ingram36 MIN, 17 PTS, 2 REB, 4 AST, 0 STL, 5-9 FG, 0-1 3FG, 7-10 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -19 +/- BI hit contested middys when the Raptors were forced to play in the half court, but he disappeared when the team needed it in the third quarter.
A | R. Barrett31 MIN, 24 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 7-13 FG, 3-6 3FG, 7-9 FT, 0 BLK, 4 TO, -16 +/- He kept giving this team life with strong drives and 3s. His drive got the Cavs to challenge a call early (they lost the coach’s challenge). He hit big 3s in the first half to make it a four and seven-point game.
C- | S. Mamukelashvili20 MIN, 3 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1-3 FG, 1-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -4 +/- I thought he should have been given more minutes much early in the game. Barely noticed him, but by then, the Cavs’ lead had gotten too large.
A+ | J. Shead28 MIN, 17 PTS, 1 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 6-11 FG, 5-6 3FG, 0-1 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -6 +/- The shining star in a losing game. He hit five prove-it 3s and touched the paint at will in the first half. He came to tag on Mobley though it was a bit too late. He honoured Rajakovic’s decision to start him.
C- | J. Walter28 MIN, 7 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 2-5 FG, 1-4 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -6 +/- Barely noticed Walter’s presence this afternoon.
B+ | C. Murray-Boyles20 MIN, 14 PTS, 4 REB, 4 AST, 0 STL, 7-8 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -15 +/- A solid showing for the rookie in his first playoff game. When Poeltl couldn’t attacked, he attacked the rack instead. He hit a Yak-like push shot with his left hand. Great to see him attempt a 3.
C- | A. Lawson14 MIN, 2 PTS, 0 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 1-4 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, 11 +/- Played solid D on Mitchell in the first half, and had a good attempt to tag on Mobley, though Lawson got called for the foul.
Inc | J. Battle3 MIN, 0 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-1 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 6 +/- Garbage time.
Inc | G. Dick2 MIN, 0 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-0 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 2 +/- Garbage time.
Inc | J. Mogbo2 MIN, 2 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1-1 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 2 +/- Garbage time.
Inc | T. Jackson-Davis2 MIN, 2 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-0 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 2 +/- Garbage time.
C- | Darko Rajakovic He should have taken a timeout earlier in the third quarter. I thought he could have used Mamu a bit more when things got hairy. When the game kept grinding down to the half court, there must have been a better way to utilize Ingram.
Things We Saw
- This was half court, 90s basketball with efficient scoring from the field. The Raps will need IQ to come back to push the pace, or not solely rely on BI for its half-court offence. The Cavs scored 55% from the field and hit 16 of their 32 3s. Hard to start a transition offence when the other team scores so easily.
- Raps lost 52-36 in points in the paint, too.
