Sandra Bullock’s Rarely-Seen Kids Helped Make Her Hollywood Comeback a Reality After Bryan Randall Death
Despite being one of the most beloved A-listers in Hollywood, Sandra Bullock has stepped away from the spotlight; until now. In 2022, while speaking with Good Morning America, she talked about how she’s taking a step away from acting, and won’t pick up projects that’ll take her away from her kids. (For those who don’t know, Bullock adopted her two children Louis and Laila.) That, plus the death of her longtime partner Bryan Randall from ALS in 2023, made her step away from the limelight, but the stars aligned and she came back for Practical Magic 2 (and we can thank her kids for that)!
During an April 16 panel at CNBC’s Changemakers Summit via EOnline, Bullock revealed she took it on simply because her kids were “out of school” during the production. “I’m not going to sacrifice my time with my kids,” she said. “They’d be happy if I was gone, I would not.”
She added, “I do not do my best work if my children are struggling or if they need something and I can’t facilitate it. I’m raising my children, not anybody else.”
And now, we get Practical Magic 2!
The long-awaited sequel is set to be released on Sept 11, 2026.
It follows the Owens family 25 years after the first film, where Sally’s daughter (Joey King) starts to develop dark abilities, setting off a chain of events that could affect the Owens family forever. Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest all reprised their roles for it!
