A Prayer To Close Every Door The Enemy Is Using Against You
A reflection on the quiet ways doubt, fear, and old patterns return—and the courage it takes to close the doors that no longer lead to peace. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.
Sometimes the enemy doesn’t need to break down your walls — he just needs you to leave a door unlocked.
Maybe it’s the door to old patterns you thought you’d outgrown. Maybe it’s the door to relationships that keep pulling you backward. Maybe it’s the door to thoughts and fears you keep entertaining even though you know they’re not from God.
God,
I come to you today asking for protection – not just around me, but within me. Close every door the enemy has been using to get to my peace, my purpose, and my faith. The doors I knocked on unknowingly. The doors that were opened through trauma, through pain, through relationships I should have walked away from sooner.
Close the door to fear that keeps telling me I am not going to make it. Close the door to comparison that makes me feel like I’m falling behind. Close the door to shame that keeps pulling me back to who I used to be. Close every door the enemy is using to plant doubt, to stir up anxiety, to keep me stuck in cycles I’ve already prayed my way out of.
Show me what needs to change, and give me the strength to actually change it. Seal every entryway with your presence, your truth, and your protection. Guard me, God. And help me recognize when I’m about to open a door that you’ve already closed for my protection.
Amen.
