BBC Investigation Exposes Muslim Migrants in Britain Coached to Fake ‘Gay’ Claims to Secure Asylum
An undercover investigation has uncovered a network of legal advisers and middlemen charging illegal migrants thousands of pounds to fabricate claims of being gay in order to secure asylum in the UK.
The BBC investigation found migrants whose visas were due to expire were being coached to invent stories, gather fake evidence and pose as members of the LGBT community to avoid deportation.
Advisers offered “packages” including staged photographs, fabricated letters and even fake medical reports to strengthen claims.
“Listen to me. There is nobody who is real. There is only one way out in order to live here now and that is the very method everyone is adopting,” one adviser told an undercover reporter.
In another case, a legal adviser offered to build a claim for up to £7,000 and said the chances of rejection were “very low.”
Migrants were also instructed to attend LGBT events and clubs to gather evidence.
Others were told to obtain letters falsely claiming they had engaged in same-sex relationships.
“I will fully prepare you for the interview by compiling a comprehensive package for you,” one adviser said. “You just have to tell them that ‘I am a gay and it is my reality.’”

The investigation found that some individuals were even advised to bring family members to the UK under similar false claims.
“If you call her here, then we will apply for her asylum as well… Once she’s here, we can make her a lesbian,” the adviser said.
At a meeting of an LGBT asylum support group in east London, attendees openly admitted many claims were fraudulent.
“Most of the people here are not gays,” one man said.
Another added: “Nobody is a gay here. Not even 1% are gay. Not even 0.01% are gay.”

Official figures show a sharp rise in asylum claims based on sexuality, with Pakistani nationals making up a disproportionate share.
In 2023, nearly two-thirds of such claims were approved at the initial stage.
The U.K. Home Office said anyone attempting to abuse the system would face legal consequences.
“Any attempt to misuse protections designed for people fleeing genuine persecution because of their sexuality is deplorable,” a spokesperson said.
