Fullkrug going back to West Ham as Milan won’t pay €5m fee
Milan are not expected to use their option to buy Niclas Fullkrug outright from West Ham United for €5m, so VfL Wolfsburg are reportedly interested.
The centre-forward made the loan move to San Siro as a last-minute deal on February 1, after the Rossoneri had struggled to secure other targets and Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta failed a medical.
Fullkrug has made 16 Serie A appearances for Milan, scoring one goal in the 1-0 victory over Lecce on January 18, but only three of those matches saw him in the starting XI.
Instead, coach Max Allegri tended to prefer Rafael Leao in a False 9 role, even with Santiago Gimenez injured.
Fullkrug will not make Milan move permanent
Milan have no intention of using the €5m option to buy the 33-year-old outright, so Fullkrug is going back to West Ham United at the end of the season.
He probably won’t remain there for long, as Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenburg claims that VfL Wolfsburg are interested in picking up the striker.
It is noted that his contract with West Ham remains valid even if they are relegated from the Premier League, although his salary would be reduced by 50 per cent.
