Natalie Portman Candidly Reveals What She's Feeling Most 'Aware' Of While Pregnant At 44
Natalie Portman is feeling grateful about getting pregnant at 44 years old, calling her pregnancy a “miracle.”
The actress announced that she’s expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Tanguy Destable, in an April 17 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Tanguy and I are very excited,” she said. “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”
Portman, who already shares on Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, 9, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied, knows how lucky she is to be pregnant, given the struggles some other women her age face. “I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant,” said Portman, whose father is a fertility doctor. “I have so many people I love who’ve had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It’s such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it’s also not an easy thing.”

She added, “And so I know how lucky it is. I’m very aware, and I’m very grateful. I have deep appreciation and gratitude.”
The Black Swan star added that, this time around, she’s appreciating pregnancy in new ways. “There is a gratitude that when you’re young, you don’t necessarily grasp,” she said. “And there’s a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it’s probably the last time, I cherish every moment.”
Physically, Portman is feeling great, per the interview. “I have more energy than I thought I might,” she said.
Portman and Destable have been dating since March 2025, around a year after the actress finalized her divorce from Millepied. The pair were married for over a decade when reports emerged accusing Millepied of cheating on Portman.
