Landon Donovan predicts how many points Tottenham will get from next six games

Former Premier League player Landon Donovan has now predicted the worst for Tottenham Hotspur in their fight to beat the drop this season.

The next six games are massive for Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

In fact, when comparing Spurs’ next six fixtures with those of their relegation rivals, on paper, Tottenham look like they could secure at least 10 points from a possible 18.

Of course, such a return could pretty much guarantee their safety, but the reality for Tottenham is that they have been poor for most of the year, winless in their last 14 outings.

The situation at Tottenham is rather precarious, and there is no denying that many teams in the division will fancy going up against the Lilywhites at the moment.

The same, however, cannot be said of their relegation rivals, who have looked solid, picking up points in their last five outings.

Former Premier League midfielder Landon Donovan, speaking on the Unfiltered Soccer podcast, shared his view on how Tottenham will fare in their remaining fixtures, suggesting they will fall short.

He said, “I think Spurs, six games left. I think they get six points. And I think the other two, Forest and West Ham, get five points, which is not enough.

“I think they are going down, they have not won a game now for so long and I am not even sure when they last managed to get three points in the Premier League.”

Spurs face uphill battle as relegation rivals hold advantage

It does look like it is all doom and gloom for Tottenham at the moment, but the Lilywhites must take it one game at a time.

Up next is a home match against Brighton and Hove Albion, which is a must-win given that their relegation rivals have relatively easier games.

Nottingham Forest face 19th-placed Burnley, while West Ham United are up against Crystal Palace, who are in the bottom half of the table – making victories a strong possibility for the relegation-threatened sides.

Should they win their respective games and Spurs lose, the gap between the Lilywhites and safety could open to five points, and at that point, it becomes difficult to see how they survive.
