Bournemouth reach agreement to appoint two time league winner to replace Iraola
Bournemouth have reached an agreement in principle to appoint former Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose as their new head coach, following the shock announcement that Andoni Iraola will depart the club this summer.
The deal, which is expected to be finalised before the end of the current campaign, will see the 49-year-old German take the reins at the Vitality Stadium in June.
Iraola, who guided the Cherries to a club-record points total last season, confirmed earlier this week that he will step down at the expiry of his contract to pursue a fresh challenge.

Marco Rose to become new Bournemouth manager
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the South Coast club moved decisively to secure Rose ahead of other candidates, including Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.
The Italian journalist posted on X:
“Bournemouth are set to appoint Marco Rose as new head coach from June. Agreement done with former RB Leipzig manager to replace Andoni Iraola next season. Rose has agreed terms with #AFCB and the contract is set to be approved soon.”

The appointment is a significant statement of intent from Bournemouth’s hierarchy, led by president of football operations Tiago Pinto.
Rose’s availability, having been a free agent since leaving Leipzig in March 2025, allowed the club to bypass lengthy compensation negotiations and begin immediate planning for the 2026/27 season.
Rose’s impressive European portfolio
In Marco Rose, Bournemouth are appointing a manager with a decorated history in some of Europe’s most competitive environments.
Known for a heavy-metal style of football characterised by high pressing and rapid transitions, Rose is viewed as the ideal successor to continue the progressive work started by Iraola.
| Club | Honors / Achievements |
| RB Salzburg | 2x Austrian Bundesliga, 1x Austrian Cup |
| RB Leipzig | 1x DFB-Pokal (2023), 1x DFL-Supercup |
| B. Dortmund | 2nd Place Bundesliga (2021/22) |
Marc Rose achievements
Rose’s experience in the Champions League and his track record for developing elite young talent were reportedly key factors in Bill Foley’s decision.
As Bournemouth chase a top-half finish this term, the arrival of a “title-winning boss” suggests the club is no longer content with Premier League survival, but is now firmly aiming for silverware and European qualification.
