Morton v Queen’s Park – Match Preview
ONE point is all that is required for Sean Crighton to fiulfil his pre-season objective and assure Queen’s Park of their William Hill championship status for season 2026-27.
Morton, from the head coach’s hometown, are hosts on Saturday needing the same, at the very least, to stave off the spectre of relegation over their shoulder.
The Spiders defeated the Ton in their last meeting – a five-goal cracker at The city Stadium, and Crighton took his team to the home ground for their final training session of the week.
The saw pitch saw defeat in midweek to Raith Rovers but the good news that Ricki Lamie’s red card in that match has been overturned, on appeal, by the Scottish FA boosts the selection options for Crighton’s stretched squad.
Morton are three points worse off in the table, sitting eighth, and could draw level with a win and that could be enough for both teams to avoid the dropzones if Airdrie were unable to defeat Partick Thistle.

The Ton boss replaced Dougie Imrie when he switched to Raith Rovers halfway through the season.
Since then his side, and Sean Crighton’s have switched places frequently, currently coming to rest one place and three points apart.
With the way the end of season fixtures fall though, Morton meet both teams below them in the table, and the Spiders above in their final three games.
A win against any will see them safe and even a point will be enough should Airdrie fail to beat Partick Thistle.
