YouTube uses made their voices heard, and the video giant answered their wishes. This week, the video platform rolled out an update that has users very happy.
Some YouTube viewers prefer longer videos, no Shorts. Up until now, they had to see Shorts in their feeds.
YouTube Praised for Allowing Users to Do 1 New Thing
Now, as of this week, YouTube has announced that are now able to entirely remove Shorts from their feeds, if they want to do so. According to a Wednesday, April 15, report from Dexerto, users, with this new option, are able to effectively hide the vertical content completely.
Shorts have been part of YouTube more than five years, but some people like to watch the regular, horizonal videos. Those who like long-form videos may prefer to hide Shorts altogether from their feeds, and now, they can do just that.
If you hind the Shorts tab, that means Shorts will no longer be promoted in your recommended feed. So, if you set the option to zero minutes for Shorts, you can take the Shorts off your app and feed.
Users took to X upon hearing the news to say they were happy about the change. "I've been praying for times like these," one said. "YouTube just gave us the ultimate productivity hack," another added. "Setting it to 0 minutes and never looking back, this is the most productive update YouTube has ever shipped," one more said.
Who Are the Most Popular YouTube Personalities for 2026?
So, who's the most popular YouTube personality in 2026? According to research from Brand Watch, it's MrBeast with 451 million subscribers. They call MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, the "king of YouTube."
"Having overtaken T-Series in 2024, he became the first individual creator to reclaim the top spot since PewDiePie," they note. "MrBeast's videos are some of the most watched and most liked on the platform, featuring elaborate challenges, massive giveaways, and philanthropic stunts."
They add of his videos, "With efforts underway to expand his business beyond YouTube, including his Feastables brand and MrBeast Burger, expect him to hold his place here for some time."
T-Series comes in at No. 2 with 279 million subscribers. It's a record label and film production company from India. Then, at No. 3, it's Cocomelon with 180 million subscribers. "Cocomelon's high position shows just how many children enjoy watching YouTube videos," Brand Watch notes. "The platform gives parents an easy way to keep their kids entertained."
