Foreign minister stresses need for full respect of Israel-Lebanon ceasefire
The 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was welcomed on Friday by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, who emphasised the necessity of full respect and implementation of the agreement.
In a post on X, he said the deal was achieved through continued United States leadership and thanked all those involved in securing it.
Kombos described the ceasefire as an important step towards de-escalation in the wider region and said it creates prospects for lasting peace.
He said that Cyprus is ready to contribute to efforts in the immediate aftermath of the agreement, calling the current situation a critical opportunity that should be seized.
The minister underlined that all parties must fully respect what has been agreed, with particular attention to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kombos said strict adherence to the ceasefire terms is vital for stability and for building conditions that can support broader regional security.
