Lea Michele Gets Support from 'Glee' Cast Members at Her Sardi's Portrait Unveiling
Members of the Glee cast are showing support for Lea Michele as she nears the end of her acclaimed run in Broadway’s Chess!
The Emmy-nominated actress just got one of Broadway’s biggest honor – a portrait at the restaurant Sardi’s – and she was joined by many of the show’s alum, including BFF Jonathan Groff.
Lea unveiled her portrait during a ceremony on Thursday afternoon (April 16) at Sardi’s restaurant in New York City.
After Jonathan gave a speech to honor Lea, she posed for photos with the portrait. Joining them were former co-stars Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Alex Newell, and Skylar Astin.
Chess co-stars Aaron Tveit and Nicholas Christopher, as well as director Michael Mayer and writer Danny Strong, posed for photos with her too.
Kevin and Skylar both went to see Lea in Chess this week and both posted raves about her performance on their social media pages. They posed for photos with her backstage too!
Lea will be starring in Chess through June 21 and she’s expected to earn her very first Tony nomination for her performance. Most experts believe she would have won the Tony for her performance in Funny Girl, but she unfortunately wasn’t eligible as she didn’t perform in the original cast.
