Can Canadiens upset Lightning in playoffs? Knuckles, Greenie and Skrudland think so | HI/O Show
The Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning will meet in the first round of the playoffs in a rematch of the 2021 Stanley Cup final, which the Lightning won in five games.
Do the young Canadiens have a chance this time against the experienced Lightning, which is a heavy favourite in the first-round playoff series and has home-ice advantage?
That’s the main question answered on this week’s Hockey Inside/Out Show playoff preview, as The Gazette’s Stu Cowan is joined by former Canadiens teammates and 1986 Stanley Cup champions Chris Nilan, Rick Green and Brian Skrudland.
The three former Habs talk about what the team needs to do in order to beat the Lightning, how big of a loss defenceman Noah Dobson (thumb injury) will be, and the goaltending matchup between Jakub Dobes and the Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Also, should Arber Xhekaj and Brendan Gallagher be in the lineup for the Canadiens, and what about David Reinbacher, who was recently called up from the AHL’s Laval Rocket?
The former Canadiens also share some memories of their 1986 Stanley Cup run and what their message is to the current Canadiens heading into this year’s post-season.
We finish off the show with Nilan, Green, Skrudland and Cowan giving their picks for who will win the series and in how many games.
