Netflix Quietly Adding All 3 Seasons of Canceled Sci-Fi Series
La Brea may not have had a long run on network television, getting three seasons and 30 episodes worth of run on NBC from September 2021-February 2024, but the sci-fi series is about to get a major run on Netflix.
La Brea, which is currently available for subscribers on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video and for Tubi users free of charge, will join Netflix US next month, according to reports.
When is 'La Brea' coming to Netflix?
The show will arrive on Netflix in the United States on Friday, May 1. Other titles joining the platform that day include Green Book, Jennifer's Body and My Dearest Señorita, a Netflix original.
This is the first time American Netflix subscribers will be able to stream La Brea. Previously, the show was released in select international regions in late 2024, generating 21.5 million views through the end of 2025.
What is 'La Brea' about?
Produced by Keshet Studios and Universal Television, La Brea is centered around the opening of a large sinkhole in Los Angeles at the site of the La Brea Tar Pits and Wilshire Boulevard.
The sinkhole succeeds in "dragging hundreds of people into a mysterious primordial world," says What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore.
"Those who fell must band together to survive a land filled with prehistoric creatures and inexplicable phenomena, while those left above search for a way to rescue them," Moore writes.
Starring Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Chike Okonkwo, Jon Seda, Karina Logue, Veronica St. Clair and others, La Brea earned mixed critical reviews. Overall, the show has only a 58% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 5.8/10 mark on IMDB.
If you haven't watched La Brea yet and want to judge it for yourself, you only have two more weeks to wait until you can access the show on Netflix.
