ANDRA: Junior Drag Bike Set For Nail-biting Finish at Grand Finals

New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike Set For Nail-biting Finish at ANDRA Grand Finals

The New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike bracket is shaping up as one of the most tightly contested and emotionally charged battles of the ANDRA Grand Finals, with an extraordinary five riders arriving on the maximum 300‑point cap ahead of the April 18 decider at Dragway at The Bend.

Cooper Plummer, Aliza Harris, Lawrence Raschella, Riley Kilvington, and Bailey Paul all enter the finale tied at the top, while Austin Walpole remains in mathematical contention on 220 points.

With so many riders still in the championship hunt, and with two of them also chasing the prestigious John Storm Memorial Award, New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike is poised for a dramatic conclusion to its inaugural championship season.

Plummer and Harris, in particular, are chasing history: if either rider claims the John Storm Memorial Trophy, they will become the first Junior competitor to do so since Toby Austin in 2015, and the first ever from Junior Drag Bike.

Cooper Plummer (Burnouts Unlimited)

“I am hoping to do well and take out the championship, and the John Storm is one of the best awards you can get,” Plummer said.

“I am really excited to see how this Grand Final goes. I would love to say good luck to all of my competitors, and thanks to all of my sponsors, as well as Hunt Motorsport, Bailey Hawke, and Lucas Bergamin for all of their support across the season.”

Harris echoed the excitement as she prepares for the biggest weekend of her season.

“We are stoked to be heading into the ANDRA Grand Finals with high hopes of taking out the round and claiming the John Storm Memorial Award,” she said.

“Being one of the top four teams (in the running for the John Storm) is a massive achievement for me and the crew, showcasing the countless hours and effort we have poured into this sport.

“We love what we do, and we are ready to give it our all. The ANDRA Grand Final is shaping up to be a real nail‑biter – bring it on!”

Also entering the finale on 300 points is Lawrence Raschella, who has balanced racing with other commitments throughout the year.

“I am excited to be racing at the Grand Final and happy that I capped out on points, but I did miss a few rounds this season with football commitments,” he said.

“That being said, I would like to finish the season off with a victory and a Gold Tree. The championship could go a number of different ways, so I am excited to see how it plays out.”

Riley Kilvington is another rider on the cap and is feeling confident heading into the decider.

“I am feeling good and confident ahead of the Grand Finals,” he said.

“Hopefully we can get some testing in and try and change a few things before the big day.

“I have hopes of trying to secure the championship, but my expectations are not high. I will try my best – being on the points cap gives me a lot of confidence.

“If I was to win, it would probably be a dream come true, to win such a big championship in such a short time of racing,” he said, while thanking his sponsors WA Bolts, Dannani Hotshots, and DIY Equipment Hire WA.

Rounding out the capped riders is Bailey Paul, who has impressed in his first year of competition.

“I am excited and nervous but mostly looking forward to racing to see what I can achieve,” Paul said.

“If I took it out in my first year, it would be super exciting and may help me get my first sponsor.”

The Australian National Drag Racing Association Ltd, or ANDRA for short, is the drag racing sanctioning body of Australia. The organization was created in 1973 from a more drag racing oriented faction of the Australian Hot Rod Federation. Today ANDRA sanctions races throughout Australia and throughout the year at all levels, from Top Fuel to Junior Dragster, on everything from temporary regional tracks to international standard facilities in capital cities. ANDRA and its members make drag racing a family-friendly, safe sport. So come along as a spectator or bring your street car to an “off-street” event and enjoy the excitement that is Australian drag racing. www.andra.com.au
