Former Kansas forward Bryson Tiller transfers to rival Missouri, ready for ‘fresh start’
By JAMES MADDEN
Another Kansas transfer is officially off the board. Former Jayhawks big man Bryson Tiller is headed to long-time rival Missouri, he announced on The Field of 68’s YouTube channel on Thursday.
A two-team race, Tiller ultimately chose to play for head coach Dennis Gates and Tigers over Miami.
Tiller, who announced his intentions to transfer shortly after the portal opened last week, will become the first player in the history of both programs to transfer within the Border War rivalry.
Serving as a starter for the majority of the season, Tiller had limited production in Kansas’s two NCAA Tournament games. The 6-foot-11 forward scored just six points in 51 minutes across the two games.
Starting in 31 of the Jayhawks’ 35 games this season, he finished with a line of 7.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, shooting nearly 45% from the field.
Notably, the Kansas and Missouri will once again renew the Border War rivalry next season and are expected to face-off at the T-Mobile Center in Missouri. Next season’s matchup is the last of the current series, leaving the status of the rivalry’s future uncertain at this time.
He was asked by the Field of 68 about potentially being booed by Kansas fans next season, to which Tiller said he’s ready.
“I’m extremely ready, I’m going to embrace it,” said Tiller. “I’m a Mizzou Tiger now.”
