Trump’s Secretary of War quotes Pulp Fiction bible verse during prayer
The United States Secretary of Defence quoted a fake Bible verse during a large prayer service at the Pentagon – that was actually from Pulp Fiction.
Pete Hegseth, while talking about the rescue of a pilot who crashed in Iran earlier this month, asked the audience to join in prayer.
‘Pray with me please,’ he said.
‘The path of the downed aviator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of camaraderie and duty shepherds the lost through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children.
‘And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother, and you will know my call sign is Sandy 1 when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Amen.’
Hegseth said the prayer was based on Ezekiel 25:17, which reads: ‘And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.’
But it read more like Samuel L Jackson’s prayer before he shot a man to death in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino film, Pulp Fiction.
In the film, Jackson says: ‘The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
‘Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children.
‘And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee.’
U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth has long called for a Christian nationalist approach to leadership.
He’s also known for his aggressive tactics towards the press who question ongoing military operations in Iran.
Last month, Hegseth told reporters that the entire world ‘should be saying thank you’ to Trump while claiming the Iran War has been a success.
Bragging about how well the Iran War had gone, Hegseth slammed those who have questioned the length of the war and the widespread effects.
‘A regime like that refusing to abandon its nuclear ambitions is not just a regional problem, it’s a direct threat to America, to freedom and to civilisation in the world, the Middle East, our ungrateful allies in Europe,’ Hegseth said.
‘Even segments of our own press should be saying one thing to President Trump, ‘Thank you’.’
Trump’s war in Iran is widely unpopular, not just in the United States but also in the UK.
At the beginning of the war, it was revealed that American soldiers were told that the Iran conflict was ‘God’s plan’ to bring about the end of the world by officials.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation received more than 200 complaints from personnel across all branches of the armed forces.
One complainant said their commander kicked off their combat readiness briefing by ‘urging us not to be “afraid” of the looming threat of war.
They said: ‘He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ.
‘He said that: “’ President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.”‘
According to a copy of the email shared by journalist Jonathan Larsen, the commander said this with a ‘big grin on his face’.
