'No Chance': United legend backs Chelsea to win on Saturday
Manchester United are set to travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
This is far more than just another fixture, with both sides locked in a tense battle to secure a top-five finish and a coveted place in the UEFA Champions League.
United legend Roy Keane has already stirred debate by backing Chelsea to come out on top against his former club.
Keane said (via The Overlap): “Is Maguire suspended? Is he back?”
He and Ian Wright then settled on a 2-1 victory for Chelsea over United.
Gary Neville and Paul Scholes anticipated a high-scoring draw, only for Keane to dismiss the idea with a blunt “no chance.”
Keane has been a relentless critic of United throughout the campaign, often blurring the line between sharp analysis and personal frustration stemming from his Old Trafford exit.
Earlier this season, he struck a sympathetic tone when discussing Liam Delap, urging patience and describing him as “a young kid” who deserved the benefit of the doubt.
However, that measured stance vanished when the conversation turned to Benjamin Sesko moments later.
Despite Sesko’s stunning late strike against West Ham United, Keane downplayed the moment, calling it merely “a nice finish” and insisting it was simply what the striker was “supposed to do.”
He also aimed thinly veiled criticism at Michael Carrick and Jonny Evans following their coaching appointments.
Leaving aside Keane’s agenda, United are not favourites to win the game.
Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are suspended for the clash. Matthijs de Ligt is also out due to back problems.
Those setbacks are likely to force Carrick into fielding a youthful centre-back pairing of Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
There are no doubts that they are talented but it would be a huge test for the two inexperienced centre-backs.
Kobbie Mainoo missed the previous clash and his availability for the Chelsea game is still uncertain.
Given the circumstances, even a draw could feel like a valuable outcome for United, who currently occupy third place in the table.
