DARTS WOMEN BOW OUT OF COMBINED COUNTIES WOMEN’S CUP AFTER 2-0 DEFEAT AT SUTTON!

Combined Counties Women’s Cup 3rd Round, played on Wednesday, 15th April 2026.

Darts Women were back in action on Wednesday night, as they headed to the VBS Community Stadium, to face Sutton Utd Women in the 3rd Round of the Combined Counties Women’s Cup.

The first half began as a scrappy affair as both sides struggled to gain the upper hand early on.

The first chance of the game fell to the visitors, as in the 15th minute, Lottie Cunningham cut in from the right and shot on goal, forcing a fine stop from Sutton keeper Lizzy Knight.

The hosts began to grow into the game as the half went on and went close midway through the half.

In the 31st minute, a free kick from the right found Cassandra Chase unmarked in the box. The header from the Sutton midfielder went wide of the Dartford goal.

The Darts were almost ahead minutes before the break. In the 44th minute, super work from Leila Awan down the right ended with a shot on goal from the Darts winger that went just over the Sutton goal meaning it was level at the break.

The hosts began the second half brightly and had two chances on the Dartford goal early on. Sutton’s Brianna Gilbert-Lawal had two shots on goal in the first three minutes of the second half, the first into the side netting and the second was well wide of the Darts goal.

The visitors continued to search for the opening goal of the game and went close minutes after the hour mark. In the 62nd minute, Izzy Franklin tried her luck with a free kick 30yds from goal which shot past the post.

The hosts went ahead midway through the second half. In the 65th minute, a long ball from deep dropped into the Darts box, the ball deflected off a Dartford player and rolled into the empty net to put the hosts in front.

The Darts searched for the equaliser and went close minutes later. In the 73rd minute, great work on the right from Lottie Cunningham saw her cross find Elsa Ejupi in the 6yd box. The Darts forward was denied by a super stop from Sutton keeper Lizzy Knight.

The hosts doubled the lead 9 minutes before full time. In the 81st minute, a well worked move down the Darts left and cross across the box found Amelia Cutler, who’s shot on goal went in off the post.

The visitors tried to get back in the game and went close to getting a goal back in added time. In the 93rd minute, Lottie Cunningham shot from the edge of the box, but it was well saved by Lizzy Knight.
