Kimberly apologized for getting the role and Kelly added, “No, it’s okay. But I remember being a young person auditioning for a movie, which didn’t happen very often. So it felt like monumental.”
Kimberly opened up about how actress Phoebe Cates originally had the role, but had to drop out of the project for personal reasons. She asked Kelly if she auditioned before or after.
Kelly replied, “Oh, babe, I did not get that far. Well, they were not having discussions with me like, ‘We’re thinking about replacing.’”
Kimberly said “See, you know what’s funny is that I put myself on tape in Chicago when I was a student at Northwestern and they told me I didn’t get it, right? And then they flew me out.”
Kelly responded, “They told me I didn’t get it and guess what? They meant it!”
