Explore Joshua Tree With This Free, Fully Kitted Off-Road Vehicle
It's not often that a consumer experience like this pops up, but the folks over at Domestic are going bold for this one.
The global outdoor technology company that is dedicated to making mobile living easy just launched a campaign that begins April 14 and runs until April 24, in which lucky adventure seekers will land one of the 17 free trips up for grabs to explore Joshua Tree in free -- yes, free -- fully kitted off-road vehicles that will be available for 36-hour bookings for two.
What Exactly Is Domestic?
According to Domestic, the company "pioneered absorption cooling technology in 1925, a breakthrough in mobile refrigeration that reshaped mobility, freedom, and everyday
life. A century later, Dometic continues to engineer gear that slots seamlessly into adventures from sidewalk to summit."
Domestic's gear lineup includes sleeping and camping equipment, including a rooftop tent, roof rack kits, and seat heaters. There's also cooking equipment, including electric coolers, portable batteries, hydration jugs, and camp kitchen utensil sets.
How Can I Sign Up?
For starters, the campaign is only available to those who live in Los Angeles.
As mentioned, 17 trips are up for grabs, and the fully tricked-out off-road vehicles are available for 36-hour bookings for two to Joshua Tree.
"Each vehicle is outfitted with premium adventure-ready gear, chef-curated meals, a reserved campsite in Joshua Tree, and a customized activity guide," Domestic announced Tuesday. "No prep, no planning -- just keys to get in, get out, and get lost."
The idea is to offer city dwellers the opportunity to get out and explore nature.
"Dometic exists to help more people connect with nature. Our products are engineered to simplify and enrich outdoor experiences, and this project is a true manifestation of that
purpose," says Peter Jannerö, Chief Marketing Officer at Dometic. "The gear. The car. The food. The plan. We're taking care of it all so people can focus on actually getting out there.
Just bring a taste for exploration."
There's no doubt that Los Angeles is the automotive capital of the world, but it's impossible to own an off-road vehicle and use it for the daily grind.
What's more, Domestic says that exploring nature in an off-road vehicle is not within reach for many, especially when you consider the expensive gear needed to make exploring nature worthwhile and luxurious.
Then there's planning and packing. Suffice it to say, with L.A. drivers losing an average of 83 hours to traffic -- the highest in the U.S. -- there's a need to escape the grind, and all it takes is signing up here.
What's Included?
Domestic says that a series of free 36-hour outdoor getaways for two gives people the chance to explore the wild in premium off-road rigs stocked with Dometic's full suite of
adventure-ready gear that Swedes carefully designed.
The company has outfitted all-terrain vehicles from Lexus, Toyota, and Ford, each fully stocked with a complete base camp setup, including comfortable sleeping gear, portable power, cooking equipment, and hydration.
Dometic’s CFX5 electric cooler is filled to the brim with a seasonal, chef-prepared
menu, kept fresh and perfectly chilled, so dining under the stars feels like a gourmet experience. The outing includes a reserved campsite in Joshua Tree and a curated guide to activities.
And if you get lost, 24/7 expert support is also being made available.
