Acer’s 280Hz OLED gaming monitor is just $380
Dell made a splash with the new Alienware OLED gaming monitor breaking through the price floor yesterday. But if you look around, you can get even more capable screens for just a bit more. Take this Acer Predator OLED monitor, which is both faster and brighter, and today it’s on sale for $379.99 at Newegg.
The Predator X27U Z1 is still pretty basic in terms of QD-OLED gaming monitors, even with an upgraded panel that can reach 280Hz of refresh (about 15 percent faster than the baseline right now). You get integrated speakers — which you absolutely shouldn’t use — as well as DisplayPort and double HDMI, but no USB-C video for easy connections to gaming laptops. Beyond that, it’s the standard 27-inch, 2560×1440 display that’s become the standard at the $400 level.
And indeed, Newegg is selling it for $400. But if you add on the coupon code STRF348 at checkout you can take an additional $20 off, bringing the price down to $379.99. That’s a fantastic deal for a name-brand OLED monitor, with a three-year warranty included. Newegg’s “limited offer” promotions tend to disappear without warning, so get an order in quickly if you’re ready. If not, then check out PCWorld’s picks for the best monitors on the market.
