CNN panelist defends Michelle Obama's right to criticize the Trump Admin
CNN's "NewsNight" panel erupted Tuesday after MAGA podcaster Emily Austin criticized former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Host Abby Phillip played a clip of Michelle describing The United States as being in its "janky era" during a podcast with Hasan Minaj, alongside President Donald Trump's claims that America is a "country in decline" with "hellhole" cities.
Austin commented, she wasn't bothered by Obama's "janky" characterization, but was bothered by Michelle saying she was "proud of how people are responding to this administration." Austin connected the former first lady's comments to Charlie Kirk's death and Savanah Hernandez's assault in Minnesota.
Phillip countered, Michelle wasn't referencing Kirk's death and defended her constitutional rights to criticize the Trump administration, as were other protesters.
Phillip told Austin, "Let's not be ridiculous!"
