Sydney Sweeney's New Denim Shorts Campaign Is for a Good Cause
Sydney Sweeney is back promoting jeans, and this time, she's ditching the controversy. American Eagle and Sweeney have just dropped a new campaign called Syd for Short, focused on a new line of denim jeans, with an eye on Summer 2026. This new campaign comes one year after her July 2026 AE partnership, which stirred controversy with the phrase "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans." However, this new campaign, "Syd for Short," seems pointedly less provocative, more playful, and general, and in terms of the fine print, seems to be supporting a great cause.
Overall, the Syd for Short campaign is about shorts, and AE's press release notes that the aim here is "about redefining the go-to summer uniform and spotlighting AE’s heritage of denim." This includes men's shorts, too, which, if we're being honest, don't look entirely "redefined," but there are some solid picks nonetheless. (You can check out all the men's options at the AE store here.)

In addition to the new shorts-focused campaign, one detail is worth mentioning. Sweeney's involvement with this campaign is directly connected to her support for the Crisis Text Line. This is a mental health service that exists, for free, to anyone who might need help managing all sorts of life challenges.
So, Sweeney is back selling us some clothes, and yes, there may be some options for men in there, too. But, there's a kind, thoughtful component to this particular push, which has nothing to do with fame, or who does and doesn't have great jeans.
