Rankin World Championships 27th–28th June 2026 Royal Cork Yacht Club
The revival of the Rankin Class in Cork Harbour continues to gather momentum, with the fleet now standing at an impressive 35 boats and more restorations underway. Built in the 1950s-1970s by the Rankin brothers Eric and David and designed by Eddie Twomey, these Cobh-built clinker dinghies have long been part of local sailing heritage and are now enjoying a new era of activity thanks to dedicated restoration efforts.
A highlight of this resurgence is the Rankin World Championships, which will be hosted again at the RCYC on the weekend of June 27–28, 2026. The event is expected to bring together boats from across Cork Harbour and beyond, celebrating both competitive sailing and the class’s rich history.
All Rankin owners are warmly encouraged to make the effort to join this year’s event and help make it a memorable and fitting celebration of the Rankin boat.
