World Cruising Club Launches Positive Impact Fund in the Caribbean
World Cruising Club Launches Positive Impact Fund in the Caribbean
Sail globally, support locally. That’s the idea behind the new Positive Impact Fund launched by the World Cruising Club(WCC), adding a community-focused layer to its well-known rally calendar.
Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, the WCC—best known for organizing the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC)—is now directing funds raised through its rallies toward grassroots projects in the destinations it visits.
Caribbean Impact for 2025–2026
The WCC runs several major rallies that make landfall in the Caribbean, including:
- The ARC to St. Lucia
- The World ARC (starting and finishing in St. Lucia)
- The ARC+ to Grenada
During the 2025–2026 Caribbean season, the fund is expected to raise approximately £15,000, supported by contributions from the club, rally participants, and industry partners.
Local Projects Supported
In St. Lucia, beneficiaries include:
- Pawasol Pour Ti Mamai (children’s charity)
- St. Lucia Animal Protection Society
- Amy’s Gift to St. Lucia (music charity)
- L’Esterre Junior Sailing
- St. Lucia Blind Welfare Association
In Grenada, funding supports the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), focused on animal welfare.
How Projects Are Selected
According to WCC organizers, grant recipients are chosen through:
- On-the-ground research
- Collaboration with local partners and agents
- Long-term relationship building within destinations
Priority is given to initiatives aligned with key impact areas:
- Environmental protection
- Animal welfare
- Children’s education and healthcare
- Local maritime culture
Why It Matters
The Positive Impact Fund reflects a broader shift in the cruising world—where rallies are no longer just about passage-making, but about leaving a positive footprint in the communities they visit.
For Caribbean destinations that host thousands of visiting sailors each season, this kind of targeted support helps strengthen local connections while delivering tangible benefits onshore.
