Central Library to host special Birds of America event
Liverpool Central Library is set to host a free event this month centred on the rare John James Audubon book, Birds of America.
Featured in the recent BBC Drama Small Prophets, Birds of America is one of the world’s rarest and most valuable books – and Liverpool Central Library is one of very few places with a copy permanently on public display.
On Thursday 30 April, An Evening with Audubon will give visitors the unique opportunity to discover the story behind Birds of America and learn more about its history, conservation, and its controversial creator.
The event will also provide the chance to view a rarely seen second volume – part of Central Library’s exceptionally rare, complete, four-volume set – as well as discover more of the library’s special collections.
For more information on An Evening with Audubon, including how to book your free ticket, visit: An Evening with Audubon Tickets.
Birds of America, and Central Library’s other rare collections, can also be viewed at any time during regular library opening hours. Find out more at: Central Library – Liverpool City Council
