During an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, Jennie spoke about the producer, agreeing she got “bad vibes” from him and revealing she spoke with co-creator Will Calhoun instead.
“To the point where I said to Will, like, ‘I would rather just communicate solely with you. I trust you. I think that you have my best interests in mind, and I don’t feel that way with your partner. So I’d rather just be with you.’ And he was like, ‘No problem,’” she explained.
As far as casting, Jennie explained that Dan was involved because of Amanda Bynes: “He was kind of the Amanda side of it…she had worked with him a lot on The Amanda Show and all the things. So, he had hooked his wagon onto her.”
She said she didn’t see Dan specifically “destroying” Amanda.
“There were a lot of problems in the ecosystem of her,” she acknowledged.
“I didn’t know how to be around a teenage girl. She taught me so much…I was kind of afraid of teenagers,” Jennie added. Watch above.
Two years ago, Investigation Discovery released the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docu-series, which detailed much of Dan‘s time at Nickelodeon and focused on the inappropriate conduct and toxic environment on the set of his shows, with former Nick actors sharing their experiences.
