The religious leaders and MAGA members who have spoken out against Trump’s ‘Jesus’ photo
Several high-profile religious figures – many of whom supported Donald Trump – have now turned against him and rebuked his photo of himself as Jesus.
Trump now appears to have deleted the AI-generated image of himself as Jesus, healing a man in a hospital bed, but the damage is done.
MAGA fans have accused the President of blasphemy, with Trump attempting damage control by claiming he posted it thinking it was him ‘as a doctor’.
‘And had to do with red cross as a red cross worker, which we support, and only the fake news could come up with that one. I just heard about it,’ he rambled.
‘It was supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better.’
Pope Leo himself appeared to slam the photo, telling Reuters: ‘I don’t think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing.’
Other religious leaders have now followed suit, with Douglas Wilson, a minister from Idaho who led a worship service at the Pentagon, denouncing the image.
‘I was very grateful to see how many conservative Christians immediately denounced the blasphemous Jesus Trump image,’ he said.
Fox News commentator Riley Gaines wrote: ‘Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this? Either way, two things are true. 1) A little humility would serve him well. 2) God shall not be mocked.’
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former MAGA Republican Congresswoman, posted a screenshot of the post and said: ‘I completely denounce this and I’m praying against it.’
The post also suffered a huge backlash with Truth Social followers calling him ‘the AntiChrist’ and accusing him of blasphemy.
One replied to the now deleted image: ‘The book of Revelations speaks of this, are you literally depicting yourself as a savior or messiah? Just asking, as the Book of Revelations tells us the Antichrist will claim he is.
Another said: ‘Disgusting. Sad… we elected the antichrist. I am a solid Trump supporter & fan, but Trump is not Christ and this art is blasphemous.’
Why is Trump arguing with the Pope?
The war of words between the two figures erupted after the head of the Catholic church branded the Iran war ‘unjust’.
Trump slammed Pope Leo on Truth Social over the weekend, saying the first American pope should ‘stop catering to the Radical Left’ and speaking out in political stances.
He then posted a bizarre AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus and also wrote on Truth Social: ‘Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible on foreign policy. I don’t want a pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a nuclear weapon.’
‘I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a country that was sending massive amounts of drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers into our country.’
Pope Leo rebutted the claims and told Reuters he plans to continue to speak out against the war, telling reporters: ‘I don’t want to get into a debate with him.
‘I don’t think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing.
‘I will continue to speak out loudly against war, looking to promote peace, promote dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for just solutions to problems.’
