Supercomputer predicts how likely Tottenham are to beat De Zerbi’s old club Brighton

Opta’s supercomputer has now predicted Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of beating Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur’s turbulent 2026 only got worse on Sunday afternoon as their winless run stretched to 14 games this year following Sunderland’s 1-0 victory.

That defeat was a devastating one for Spurs, who now find themselves firmly rooted in the bottom three for the first time this season and for the first time since 2009.

These are difficult times for the Lilywhites, who need to get their season back on track with six crucial games left before the curtain is drawn on the 2025-26 season.

For the second time this campaign, Spurs have failed to take the opportunity to create some breathing space between themselves and their relegation rivals.

Against Nottingham Forest, Tottenham needed a victory to give themselves a cushion in the survival battle, but instead they suffered a devastating 3-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

On Sunday against Sunderland, a win could have seen Spurs leapfrog both Forest and Leeds into 15th place – an opportunity that has once again gone begging.

Next up is a clash against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, and Opta’s supercomputer has given its prediction on Spurs’ chances of securing a win.

The AI’s forecast gives Tottenham a 31.8% chance of beating the Seagulls, while De Zerbi’s former side has a 42.9% chance of securing a victory.

Spurs running out of margin for error in relegation battle

With the season quickly drawing to an end, Spurs simply cannot afford to lose any more games, as that could all but seal their relegation fate.

As it stands, Tottenham are the worst of all the sides currently embroiled in a relegation scrap, as they are the only ones without a win this year.

Nottingham Forest, Leeds and West Ham United have been picking up points, which is helping them pull away from the Lilywhites.

In matchday 19, Spurs were 12 points clear of the Hammers, but that has since changed, with West Ham now two points above Tottenham in the league table.

To make matters worse, Spurs are now predicted as the team set to go down to the Championship following their defeat to Sunderland.
