Position Summary
The Curling Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Curling program. They act as a liaison between members and management pertaining to Curling programming and will act as an advocate for Curling. They Curling Coordinator will be hands-on during League play, ensuring leagues are running smoothly. In addition, they will back up the Curling Professional for teaching various programs.
This position will be seasonal, September – April.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as the liaison between curling members/committee and Club Management, attending all curling meetings and act as a voice for the program
• Provide guidance and support to league convenors; assist with team balancing, schedule changes and disputes
• Solicit ice branding partnerships, manage the sponsorship program
• Reviewing curling player “promotions” ensuring players are situated in the appropriate league for their skill set
• Oversee ice rentals, coordinating with members to book time
• Assist with draw management and playoff scheduling
• Work the floor on League Nights, ensuring players have no issues and are content
• Welcome and orient new curling members, assist with finding members an appropriate league
• Promote curling programs and events, ensuring events have adequate registration
• In consult with the Curling Pro, develop program curriculum and provide curling instruction to various leagues and programs including Jr Program
• Responsible for event & bonspiel planning and execution
• Planning the Curling calendar, scheduling events and tournaments for the upcoming year
• Oversee curling volunteers, including scheduling, training and recognition
Work Hours
• Must be able to work all shifts (days, evenings and weekends) to support various leagues, lessons and events.
• Hours will be staggered based on the weekly schedule
Education / Certification / Work Experience
• Must have a passion for curling with 5+ years of curling experience (extracurricular or professional)
• NCCP Teaching credentials, or previous teaching experience are a strong asset
• Must be Vulnerable Sector cleared
• 2+ years of administration or customer service experience
