Man Utd Player Ratings vs Leeds: Ugarte was poor but three 2/10 teammates were worse
Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
The visitors stormed out of the blocks, with Noah Okafor striking twice in a devastating first-half display.
United looked rusty coming on the back of a 24-day break between two fixtures.
Inexplicably, Carrick made no changes at the break.
The game took a decisive turn when Lisandro Martinez was given a red card for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair.
Despite being down to 10 men, United found a lifeline as Bruno Fernandes delivered once again, setting up Casemiro to head home.
Old Trafford roared back into life, with the hosts pushing forward in search of a dramatic equaliser.
However, Leeds managed the game expertly, slowing the tempo at crucial moments to frustrate United.
In the end, the Whites held firm to secure a vital three points on enemy territory.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 6/10
Made a couple of solid saves but was left helpless for both goals.
Noussair Mazraoui – 2/10
Caught off guard for Leeds’ early chances and struggled to impose himself throughout. Arguably his poorest performance in a United shirt.
Leny Yoro – 5/10
Faced a demanding battle against Calvert-Lewin. Effectively played as a single-man defence after Martinez’s sending off.
Lisandro Martinez – 2/10
Cuprit for the second Leeds goal but made amends by making a stunning last-gasp block at the cusp of half time. He was given his marching orders after deemed guilty of pulling Calvert-lewin’s hair.
Luke Shaw – 4/10
Produced a couple of moments of real quality, but overall it was a disappointing display. Struggled to deal with crosses defensively and failed to offer any attacking spark.
Casemiro – 8/10
Casemiro played two superb through balls for Diallo and once again made his mark on the scoresheet. While his legs may be fading, his passion and influence remain as strong as ever.
Manuel Ugarte – 3/10
Could have closed down Bogle quicker instead of allowing him the time to deliver the cross for the opening goal.
He also misplaced several passes, drawing frustration from the Old Trafford crowd.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
Lacked urgency in the first half but stepped up after the red card, taking control of the game. Dictated play from deep like a quarterback, created several chances, and added another assist to his tally.
Matheus Cunha – 5/10
Went close on two occasions but was denied by the goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Picked up a booking for simulation.
Amad Diallo – 2/10
Squandered a golden opportunity with a poor first touch when picked out by Cunha. Struggled badly in the second half, and unless his end product improves, he risks following Antony’s trajectory.
Benjamin Sesko – 6/10
Starved of service in the first half but fired two superb efforts, only to be denied by the goalkeeper on both occasions.
Substitutes
Bryan Mbeumo – 4/10
Hardly had any affect on the game.
Diogo Dalot – 5/10
Carried the ball forward with purpose but should really control his urge to shoot from distance.
