Tottenham’s Jamie Donley netted his second international goal on Tuesday as Northern Ireland emerged with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
It was contrasting fortunes for Spurs players on Tuesday, with Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall sealing a place at the World Cup after Sweden’s playoff final win over Poland.
However, the night ended in heartbreak for Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie, whose World Cup dreams are over after Italy lost in a penalty shootout to Bosnia.
Another Spurs youngster, who saw his nation beaten in the playoff semifinal last week, responded with an impressive display against Wales.

Northern Ireland and Wales were still licking their wounds after their playoff semifinal losses, as the two sides met at the Cardiff City Stadium for a friendly.
Jamie Donley was leading the line for the away side, playing as a false number nine, and he opened the scoring midway through the first half.
The 21-year-old, who got 64 minutes under his belt at Cardiff, struck on the rebound after seeing his initial effort come off the post.
The home side eventually equalised at the start of the second period, with Sorba Thomas bundling in from David Brooks’ deflected shot, as the spoils were shared in Cardiff.

The numbers behind Donley’s outstanding performance against Wales
In the 64 minutes that he played, the Tottenham man posted some outstanding numbers. He created two chances for his side, one of which was a big chance, as per FotMob.
Donley was handed a 7.9/10 rating, the highest out of any player in the game.
Donley also completed all six of his attempted passes, while two of his three shots were on target. The attacking midfielder had four touches in total in the opposition box, made one pass into the final third, and hit the woodwork once.
The youngster, who is currently on loan at Oxford United, also contributed defensively for Northern Ireland, making one tackle, one clearance and recovering the ball twice.
