Jon Hamm Has Weighed in on the 'Summer House' Scandal
Two Summer House cast members, Amanda Batula and West Wilson, have declared their love for each other! Before you start cheering, Wilson’s ex, Ciara Miller, is also Batula’s best friend, or was… It’s devastating for the Bravoverse, which has declared the scandal, Scandoval 2.0. But thankfully, we have Jon Hamm to talk us through it.
On Tuesday, Batula and Wilson released a joint statement confirming their rumored relationship, “We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected. Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”
If you’re new here, Batula and Miller became close friends after Miller joined the Summer House cast in Season 5. Here, Miller met Wilson, and the two made their summer fling official, but it fizzled out six months later. And now, just months after Batula announced her divorce from cast member Kyle Cooke, she and Wilson have made their rumored romance public, after denying it for months. And if you’re really, really new here, Summer House is a reality show where a bunch of well-off transplants in their late 20s live in a big house in the Hamptons for the summer. The show is going into its 10th season, so it would seem that summer has been going on a damn long time in this world.
Miller and Wilson only dated for six months in 2023, so what do we think? Did Batula break girl code? Let’s ask Jon Hamm.
Hamm appeared on Tuesday evening’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he and Cohen discussed this scandal that “rocked the Bravoverse.” (Andy’s words, not mine).
Hamm met Miller the previous night, doing some red carpet press for the second season of his Apple TV show, Your Friends & Neighbors, and noted that it was telling when she said, “I’ve been better,” after he asked her how she was doing.
“I had no idea what was to be revealed,” Hamm told Andy. Dun Dun DUNNNNNN. When Cohen asked if Hamm had any thoughts on the scandal, Hamm replied, “Team Ciara, for sure.”
“Tricky manifestations of behavior there,” he added. “I’m not so sure how you mentally do the flip-flops that are required to make that make sense in your head, but having just met Ciara, I think she’s a great gal, and she will certainly end up on her feet with all of this nonsense happening.”
Good for Hamm for yes,and-ing his way through this. He most likely got briefed on the entire show, cast, and scandal two minutes before they went live and just went with it. But was he wrong??? No.
But more importantly, how is Ciara doing? On Tuesday, she was photographed getting consoled by a friend as she was “slumped against the Hermès store in New York City.” And, side note, slumped against the Hermès store in New York City is the only way I ever want to be perceived, so good on her.
