I ditched my basic pill organizer for a compact from Dosey. It changed the way I approach taking medication.

Dosey is changing the game of medication management. Here's why I love these candy-colored compacts.

My personal philosophy in life: nothing should be boring, and if it can bring you joy, it should. I've never quite been able to apply my philosophy to my medical routine. I take daily medications, and have resorted to a good old-fashioned plastic pill organizer to keep everything in track. It's anything but chic, and the only thing differentiating it from my dog's pill organizer is the series of stickers I've stuck on top to try to add just a bit of fun to my daily routine.

And then I discovered Dosey. Suddenly, my Instagram was full of gorgeous, pastel, immaculately styled pill organizers. While I like to think I'm resistant to Instagram ads, something about these products stuck with me. I needed to know — could Dosey's products bring the joy I'd been missing in my daily medication routine?

While colorful pill organizers aren't anything new — you can find a number of management systems in every color of the rainbow at most drugstores, as well as cute, custom organizers and pill purses on Etsy, or even vintage pillboxes at antique stores — after integrating Dosey products into my routine over the past few weeks, I can confirm that these candy-colored organizers have brought a little extra joy to my life.

For the aesthetically minded, I think Dosey has perfected medication management, elevating a less-than-glamorous aspect of many people's routines into something beautiful. While they're great for travel and life on the go, this is a compact I have no problem leaving out on my nightstand. Read on for my thoughts on the compacts and pouches I used, and why I recommend them to anyone who wants a visually pleasing reminder to take their medication.

My top 3 Dosey products

More on Dosey

Founded in 2021, Dosey's goal is to reduce stigma around chronic conditions and daily medication through aesthetically pleasing designs. Featuring a pastel color palette, Dosey also emphasizes accessibility with an easy-to-open construction. Dosey also has a collaboration with Anthropologie, featuring large and small pill compacts covered in polka dots.

The Dosey products I tried

I tried five different products from Dosey's lineup. The Twist+Stack was my favorite.

7-Day Pill Compact

The 7-Day Pill Compact is Dosey's most popular product. It comfortably stores a week's worth of medication.

The 7-Day Pill Compact is Dosey's most popular product. It's sleek, slim, compact with a large mirror that holds a week's worth of pills. I was immediately impressed with the compact's quality. The outside shell is made from food-grade, BPA-free plastic for a smooth, durable finish. The interior has gorgeous gold details with the day of the week imprinted inside each compartment. It feels hefty and like it will hold up to years of being tossed around in my purse.

I could fit all six of my daily medications into each compartment, with room to spare. Unlike my previous pill organizer, I wasn't able to dump a single day's worth of medication out without spilling all of my pills. I don't have mobility issues or chronic pain, but if you have issues with fine-motor functions, it might be difficult to scoop your pills out of the compartment each day.

Dosey's 7-Day Pill Compact is roomy, comfortably holding all my medications for the week.

I love how snugly it fits inside the Wellness Wallet. It's a perfect fit, giving your medication a little extra protection if you're travelling or keeping it in your purse. The slim design is sturdy, and I've never experienced the compact popping open and spilling in my purse — which is impressive, given that I'm less than gentle with every bag I carry.

Twist + Stack

The Twist+Stack does exactly what its name suggests. You access medication by twisting the top, and it's magnetic, so you can stack multiple on top of each other.

The Twist+Stack is my favorite item, Shaped like a flower and made from ABS plastic, each pill compartment is a separate "petal" that is easily accessed by twisting the top of the organizer. All six of my bulky pills fit comfortably in each petal. Its modular system reminds me of the viral Cadence Capsules, with a design meant for stack. The magnetized so you can stack multiple units together if you take medications at different times of day (but not so magnetized that you can put it on your fridge — trust me, I tried).

Twisting the top of the organizer doesn't require much gripping or squeezing, so it's easy to access medications. Like the pill compact, each compartment has the day of the week engraved at the bottom to help you keep track of your medications.

Each "petal" of the flower-shaped Twist+Stack hides away the day's medication.

Subjectively, I just love the way this organizer looks lying on my vanity. It's a huge improvement from the bulky, plastic contraption I used previously.

Wellness Wallet and Well Bag

Both the Wellness Wallet and Well Bag are stylish ways to hold your pill compacts and other medication.

The Wellness Wallet and Well Bag both make carrying your medications a little easier, whether you need something for your purse or a dedicated travel bag. The Wellness Wallet fits the 7-Day Compact perfectly, and it comes with reusable pill pouches. Similar to one of the best travel pouches, the Well Bag is the perfect size for any compact, with extra room for additional medications or accessories.

The Wellness Wallet is the perfect size for the 7-Day Compact. It fits snugly into my purse and looks identical to a normal wallet.

Both bags feature gold hardware and embossing on the soft vegan leather. In fact, the Wellness Wallet looks exactly like a regular wallet. I keep as-needed medications, like ibuprofen, in zippered pouches inside the Wellness Wallet, which I carry in my purse, backpack, or tote. I use the Well Bag to store medicine while travelling.

The bottom line

Looking at my old pill organizer versus my new Dosey compact, it's easy to see why I made the switch.

At the end of the day, Dosey's pill compacts serve the same function as any old pill organizer — they keep your pills in order and offer an easy, visual confirmation that you've taken your medication for the day.

They've made my daily routine just that much more fun, and for me, that's worth something. If I had to recommend just one Dosey product, I'd suggest the Twist + Stack, since it combines ease of use with a unique design that is both easy to travel with and leave on display.
