NBC Censored Vice President JD Vance Getting Booed at Olympics Opening Ceremony
At the opening ceremony on Friday for the 2026 Winter Olympics, U.S. vice president JD Vance was booed. The boos were so loud that NBC cut them from the broadcast in the U.S., you’ll have to go online and watch videos of the ceremony playing in other countries to hear the uncensored version.
Of Vance getting booed, Trump said “”It’s surprising because people like him. Well, I mean, he is in a foreign country, in all fairness. But he doesn’t get booed in this country.” However, it’s been reported that Trump will skip this year’s Superbowl on Sunday over concerns that he will be booed. Both Trump and Vance have been booed many times on American soil including at the Kennedy center last spring.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is begging Americans to not upset Trump by booing, saying “It’s important that we support our athletes.” However, American athletes only received cheers from the audience. The booing was limited to when the camera panned to JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance in their special box at the ceremony. If you’re able to find an uncensored video, it is very clear that the crowd immediately shifts from cheering to boos when the camera moves from athletes to Vance. When athletes are showed again, the boos stop.
Twitter, owned and curated by Elon Musk, has deleted videos of Vance being booed, citing copyright infringement.
Usha Vance wrote on Instagram: “What a thrilling start to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan! Go Team USA – we’re rooting for you!”
Do you think Trump is really surprised that Vance is getting booed?
