Metroplex Challenge Up Next for Gymbacks

The No. 10 Gymbacks will conclude an action-packed weekend at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth on Sunday, taking on No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 31 Arizona and No. 45 TWU.

Sunday marks Arkansas’ sixth appearance at the Metroplex Challenge and the fourth straight year at the meet for the Gymbacks. Arkansas averages a score of 196.480 at the Metroplex Challenge and came out on top for the first time in five tries in 2025, defeating No. 10 Oregon State, No. 19 Arizona and No. 55 SEMO with a score of 196.400.

The Gymbacks are a combined 21-27 against Arizona, Oklahoma and SEMO, with 25 of those losses coming to No. 1 Oklahoma. Arkansas has never defeated the Sooners at a neutral site.

Both Oklahoma and Arizona competed on Friday, with OU toppling SEC foe Alabama 198.200-197.475. Arizona had a dual meet with Utah, in which the Gym Cats fell 197.125-195.975. TWU last competed on Feb. 1 in a tri-meet at San Jose State, where the Pioneers placed third with a 194.875 score.

Arkansas got its second SEC win of the season and third victory in Bud Walton Arena to kick off the weekend in an upset over No. 6 Georgia, 197.450-197.050.
