After going through a large number of photos from 2015, which include the winning of thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown by American Pharoah and numerous spot news and general news images, I thought the most unusual but compelling photo was of a State Police diver leaping from a docking area high above the waters of the Hudson River. The divers were searching for clues in the disappearance of a young woman who had been missing for about two weeks at the time the photo was taken. An image of this type shows the harsh reality of what a State Police diver must do as part of his job. Photographers say such an event is like "shooting fish in a barrel," meaning everywhere you turn there's something to frame and capture. [...] to see the number of hot-air balloons multiplied several times over in the immense space of the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport in Queensbury was absolutely breathtaking. At the balloon's opening, there was a man charging curiosity seekers $2 to go inside and experience the retired airship's vastness.
