Como president: ‘Fabregas will help choose his replacement’ when coach decides to leave
Como president Mirwan Suwarso has underlined the club’s commitment to long-term planning, revealing that head coach Cesc Fabregas plays a key role in shaping the team’s future – including identifying his eventual successor.
Speaking to Sportitalia, Suwarso explained that the club’s ownership structure is built around stability and continuity rather than short-term reactions.
Como president: ‘We have a succession plan for every role’
“I don’t think there is any permanence in any business, not just football,” he said.
“We must have a succession plan – not just for the coach, but for every executive. Even I have a replacement already identified. We all work and train people to take over, from the CEO to every position.”
Suwarso: ‘When he decides to leave, Fabregas will help choose his replacement’
Asked if he had ever feared Fabregas might leave, Suwarso clarified that succession planning is a routine part of Como’s approach.
“Absolutely, it’s very important,” he added. “Cesc is not just a coach, but a shareholder and someone who built the club’s football philosophy. So he, of all people, must help choose who replaces him one day if he decides to go.”
The comments underline Como’s structured model under the current ownership, emphasising sustainability and long-term identity both on and off the pitch.
Fabregas has only had mild links with a move away from the lake recently, with Inter and Manchester United touted quietly as potential destinations.
However, it would appear no big club has yet to make a concrete move for the Spaniard.
