Patriots Must Get These Three Players More Involved Moving Forward

Following a disheartening 21-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the New England Patriots must find ways to revitalize a stagnant offense that managed only 14 points amid five turnovers against a mediocre Steelers defense.

It’s time for the Patriots to rethink some personnel decisions. Moving forward, New England should prioritize integrating three underutilized rookies, one of whom has been used nicely but could feature even more for Mike Vrabel.

Sunday’s performance against the Steelers was a microcosm of New England’s early-season woes. Despite a competitive first half where the Patriots trailed 14-7, self-inflicted errors allowed Pittsburgh to pull away in the second half.

Aaron Rodgers exploited the Patriots’ secondary with two touchdown passes, while the Pats’ offense struggled to sustain drives, converting just four of 12 third downs. This performance drops the team to 1-2, emphasizing the urgency to adjust strategies and incorporate fresh talent. Here are three guys New England should feature more heavily.

Kyle Williams

The third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from Washington State brings explosive potential that the Patriots have yet to fully tap. Known for his 20 touchdown receptions over his final two college seasons, Williams offers speed and reliable hands that could stretch the field and create mismatches. Increasing his involvement would diversify the passing game, drawing coverage away from guys like Stefon Diggs and allowing for more big-play opportunities, especially against defenses loading up on the run.

Efton Chism III

The undrafted free agent from Eastern Washington represents another overlooked asset. His college career was marked by consistent production, yet he’s remained inactive so far, with coaches citing the need for further development in route-running and blocking. At 6-foot-1 with strong yards-after-catch ability, Chism could thrive in slot roles or on quick screens, adding versatility to an offense that needs more weapons. Getting him on the field would inject competition and depth.

TreVeyon Henderson

The dynamic running back out of Ohio State has flashed elite speed and deserves more touches, especially as Rhamondre Stevenson can’t hold onto the football. Henderson has an underrated ability to break tackles and contribute in the passing game, too. He’ll make Drake Maye’s life a lot easier if he’s more involved.
