Two teens shot during police-involved shooting in East Harlem: officials

AST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Investigations are ongoing following a police-involved shooting in East Harlem Monday evening.
Officials said that two uniformed officers had completed a 911 call at the Wagner Houses when they heard numerous gunshots in the vicinity of East 123rd Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers saw a man shooting a gun. They discharged their firearms at the man, and then engaged in a foot pursuit, officials say.
Two males were taken into custody. A firearm with a high-capacity magazine was recovered from the bag of one of the individuals, officials say. Two 15-year-olds were shot in their legs, officials say. Investigations are ongoing about whether the shooting victims had been struck by the NYPD officers.
Police say surveillance shows two groups engaged in a dispute, which led to the gunfight. One of the suspects, Damian Calhoun, 18, had pleaded guilty to attempted murder in 2024 when he was 17 years old, officials say. Since he wasn't charged as an adult, he was released back onto the streets in July and was scheduled to reappear in court in November 2025.
The second suspect, a 15-year-old, has an open case for a violent incident in Manhattan, officials say.
