A New Player in Downtown Enid, OK
ENID, OKLAHOMA — In the market to buy isn't exactly what brought Kriztopher Cole to Enid less than 5 years ago coming out of the Navy to visit a friend.
But like the freshly delivered blueprints we found he and his team looking at, he liked what he saw in this '2nd tier' city.
"In the last 15 months," he says. "we've probably acquired 60 properties altogether."
He started out buying residential properties, homes, duplexes, and apartment buildings.
Last year he brought in a family friend, William LaVigna, as Chief Financial Officer.
"He got me excited about what he was doing out here."
Together, Cole Investments started looking at downtown properties too.
The old Masonic Temple built in the 1920's, later the Knox Building, now the Cole Building, was their first commercial purchase.
"A few months ago," says Cole, "we didn't have anything in downtown Enid. Now we own more square footage than anyone else."
Kriztopher had plans for the first 3 floors and is lining up tenants who might want a good deal on a short lease.
"We have a contract for a tenant to use the entire 2nd floor," he says.
The 4th and 5th floors are already owned and operated by the Enid Symphony.
The good bones of the old hall are still evident.
Symphony Exec. Director Victoria Calderone is happy to have new activity on lower floors that had stood vacant for 5 years.
"It's, simply, very nice to have people in the building," she smiles. "They're bringing attention to, not only the Cole Building, but also the Enid Symphony Center."
A short walk further along Broadway stands the old Broadway Tower built in 1931 and still the tallest structure in town.
Cole liked it from when he first got to town and finalized its purchase in August, 2025.
"We saw an old building that could be brought back to life," offers LaVigna.
Work is already underway to turn 8 floors into affordable apartments, the top floor into at least one penthouse condo, and the rest into retail space.
Enid spent its first century rising from the surrounding prairie.
A second century is a second act to be written by a younger generation ready to deal with what's already here.
Cole tells us he and his team aren't finished with trying to acquire more commercial properties in Enid.
