ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)---The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation announced $3.4 billion dollars is being invested into the state’s water infrastructure.
The corporation helps provide low-interest financing and grants to communities to improve their water infrastructure. That means replacing lead pipes, improving sewer systems, ensuring safe drinking water, and helping to protect communities in flood prone areas.

The corporation said the investment will go a long way.
"That’s 328 projects, that’s 30,000 jobs across the state of New York," explained Maureen Coleman, President and CEO of New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation.
It was made possible through federal and state funding as well as New York voters who approved a ballot proposal back in 2022.
"As part of this important announcement today, there are $60 million dollars from the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green jobs Environmental Bond Act," said Lefton.
Even with questions about future federal funding, Coleman encouraged community leaders to still apply for grants.
"Don’t let uncertainty at the federal level discourage you from getting your projects underway for the people you serve," said Coleman.
According to the Governor’s office, applications for the next round of water infrastructure grants are open now until September 12th. More information can be found online at www.efc.ny.gov.
