Police identify victims killed in Brooklyn lounge shooting
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Police have revealed the names of the three people shot and killed at the Taste of the City Lounge over the weekend.
The victims were identified as 19-year-old Marvin St. Louis, 27-year-old Amadou Diallo and 35-year-old Jamel Childs, authorities revealed late Sunday night.
The victims were among 13 people shot when at least four gunmen fired into the crowded club just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to officials. The ten other victims, ranging in age from 19 to 61, are all expected to recover.
"Gun violence of this magnitude, it really scars a community and a city that we will continue to fight to do everything that's possible to continue to take illegal guns off our street," said New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Sunday.
Authorities say the shooting appears to be gang-related and took place after a dispute inside the club. Some of the intended targets are believed to be among the shooting victims, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a press conference.
The owner of the Taste of the City Lounge shared the following statement with PIX11 News.
“At this time, our hearts are with the families who lost loved ones and those who were injured. We are devastated by this tragedy and are keeping everyone affected in our prayers,” the owners said.
