MALCUIT WINS THIRD FEATURE IN A WEEK; NICELY NABS GARDNER MEMORIAL; MOORE, WILSON & PETIT COLLECT CHECKERS AT WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY

The old song of when Your Hot, Your Hot applies to Henry Malcuit as the Strasburg driver scored the win in last Saturday’s action, then picked up the All Star win Tuesday night and continued with another visit to the Summit Racing victory circle by leading all the way Saturday night. Driving the SugarCreek Cartage, Red Malcuit Inc. and McIntosh Oil #70 sprint car, Malcuit would be pursued by Trey Jacobs while Tyler Street, Danny Mumaw and Chris Myers were putting on a show for third. Jamie Myers flat tire would bring out the caution flag at the halfway mark. On the restart, Mumaw took over third place and on the next circuit, Jacobs got out of shape running second to bring out the yellow flag again, as he would go to the back of the field. At the drop of the green flag, Mumaw and Street went side by side for second as Malcuit started to pull away. Mechanical problems sidelined Chris Myers on lap 20 for another caution as Jacobs had worked his way back up to fourth. As action returned for the final five circuits, Jacobs overpowered both Street and Mumaw but could not make a late challenge on Malcuit and would finish second followed by Street and Mumaw. Jamie Myers finished out the top five in the Pine Tree & Towing sprint division.
Early cautions in the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models kept the field bunched together as Caiden Black led the early portion of the feature with Eric Wilson, Todd Brennan, Cody Scott and Kyle Moore in chase mode. Wilson would have issues with his ride on lap 12 to bring out the caution and negate the lead Black had built. Moore would scoot past Brennan and Scott on the restart and quickly chase down Black. The Mansfield driver and his Kepling Flooring, Smitley Towing and Platinum Designs #1* would drive away with his eighth win of the season at WCS. Black, Brennan and Scott finished in that order as Ryan Markham out hustled Austin Bright, Braxton Wilson and Larry Bellman all race long to claim fifth.
The Canton Glass House Super Stocks were chasing after the Danny Gardner Memorial crown as the 15 lap affair would go non stop with Creston’s Jim Nicely leading all the way driving the Ray’s Garage #72 to post his second win of the season. Brothers Brandon and Josh Morrow along with Jason Ammons put on a race long tug of war for second until the white flag lap that saw Josh Morrow dropping from the race as Ammons topped the battle for second over Brandon Morrow. Brad Hensel won the Triple B Heating and Cooling Hard Charger award, finishing fourth from his 13th starting spot. Kyle McAfee filled out the top five.
Kyle Moore set the pace for the opening 14 laps of the Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service Modified feature as Eric Wilson was in pursuit with Jess Hartman and Jimmy Humphrey racing for third side by side during time. The caution would wave on lap 14 for a spun Jesse Griffitts. During the caution, Moore would come to a stop on the front stretch as the bracket holding the fuel cell broke, ending his run at another victory. Wilson would inherit the point and never look back in his Tub’s Automotive, Foundations Health Solutions and Cornerstone Nurse Practitioners #10 for his first modified win at Wayne County Speedway. Hartman won the second place race over Humphrey as Jason Brennan and Brandon Morrow rounded out the top five.
It was another wild feature for the JoyRide Transport Mini Stocks as Jeromesville’s Kyle Petit took the lead from the outside front row and take the Down & Dirty Services, Hardridge Restoration and Apple Creek Drive Thru #23p to victory circle for the second week in a row and third of the year. He would fight off challenges by Cody Musselman and Anthony Collins but both would have late race incidents with Musselman hit the wall and Collins making contact to halt their runs on lap 12, Petit kept Johnny Bruce at bay the final three laps as Zack Hershey, Cody Newbury and Eugene Arkenburgh posted top five finishes.
Next Saturday night, the FAST on Dirt Sprints will be back as it will be Season Championship night for all five class’ with double points up for grabs in the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts ‘Race to the Championship.
