Ian Wright has made a bold claim about Harry Kane that will surely grab the attention of Tottenham fans around the world.
Harry Kane has been away from Tottenham Hotspur for two seasons now, but a second reunion came during pre-season when Bayern Munich faced Spurs.
The striker, who remains Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, wasted little time in reminding the Lilywhites of his quality as he struck early in the game, though he also missed a penalty in the same match.
Tottenham fans are well accustomed to seeing the England captain hit the back of the net, as Kane scored 213 goals in 320 Premier League appearances, leaving him just short of Alan Shearer’s long-standing record of 260 goals.
That tally remains one of the most significant individual achievements left in the English top flight for the England captain. However, with Kane continuing his career in the Bundesliga, it seems highly unlikely that he would ever get the chance to surpass Shearer’s record.

That is where Ian Wright’s prediction becomes particularly interesting for Spurs fans. Speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, the panel were challenged to make their bold predictions for the upcoming season.
While Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher all offered playful answers, it was Wright who made a statement that carried genuine weight.
“Harry Kane to come back to the Premier League,” Wright said firmly, which prompted Neville to question whether he truly believed that might happen as soon as January, once the mid-season transfer window opens.
In response, Wright doubled down: “Yeah, I am going to say yeah.” It was a simple prediction – one that Spurs supporters in particular will not ignore.
Could Tottenham bring Harry Kane back?
If Kane does return to England, then Tottenham would appear to be the most realistic destination.
Manchester United have already signed Benjamin Sesko, Arsenal have secured Viktor Gyokeres, Manchester City boast Erling Haaland, and Liverpool have Hugo Ekitike, while also maintaining interest in Alexander Isak.
Chelsea may yet be an alternative, but Spurs remain in the strongest position. Reports suggest that when Tottenham sanctioned Kane’s transfer to Bayern in 2023, they secured a first-option clause should he ever wish to return, which places Thomas Frank’s side in a prime position to pounce if the opportunity arises next summer.
