Roman Anthony Finds Himself In Exclusive Company Alongside Juan Soto

Roman Anthony entered the majors with big expectations from the Boston Red Sox and their fans; after all, that’s what happens when you are the No. 1 prospect in baseball. However, he’s managed to provide the team exactly what they are looking for early in his MLB career.

After his big game against the Houston Astros on Monday night, Anthony is hitting .283 with three home runs and 22 RBIs. He’s held up well when playing in the outfield, and he’s been so good at the plate that he’s now leading off for Boston on most nights.

Considering the weight of the expectations he faced immediately upon his promotion, Anthony has been everything the Red Sox and their fans could hope for. And in case that wasn’t clear, Anthony finds himself in an inclusive statistical club that only New York Mets superstar outfielder Juan Soto is also a part of.

“Players to rank in 95th percentile in hard-hit percentage and chase percentage in 2025, there’s two of them. It’s Juan Soto and Roman Anthony,” Mark DeRosa shared on “MLB Central.”

This is a pretty impressive club for Anthony to be in. Not only is Soto widely regarded as one of the best hitters in the majors currently, but these guys are the only two players in the league to be putting up those numbers.

In 2025, Soto is hitting .251 with 28 home runs and 67 RBIs. Anthony is still very young, but if he can post those counting stats while continuing to hit the ball hard and not chase at pitches out of the zone, he will be able to fully realize his potential with the Red Sox.

For now, Boston is going to do their best not to overload Anthony, but that’s going to be tough considering how good he’s been playing. Anthony will look to help the Sox get back on track when they square off against the Astros at 8:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
