Furniture Amnesty Day in Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Furniture Amnesty Day is Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in City Park.

This event offers Manhattan residents a simple way to donate, claim, or help distribute gently used furniture. Originally created as a way to reduce curbside waste, this event has become a community tradition.

The city of Manhattan put out this statement:

“Here’s how to take part:

• Donate: Have up to five (5) furniture items to give away? You can either: 

o Sign up for curbside pickup (available only within city limits) by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, or

o Drop your items off at Miller Field from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25

• Volunteer: Helping hands make this day possible. Sign up for a 3-hour shift through HandsOn K-State. Snacks and drinks will be provided!

• Shop for free: Registration begins at 8 a.m. July 25 in City Park, and shopping runs in 15-minute time slots from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can take up to five (5) items. But be ready to haul it home”

All furniture left at 4 p.m. will be open to the general public, and the event ends at 4:30.
