Stolen vehicle leads to drug bust in St. Martin Parish
ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- Two individuals were arrested in St. Martin Parish after a stolen vehicle report led to police finding narcotics.
Both Lorrie Verret, 44, and Brye Segura, 32, of New Iberia were arrested for allegedly possessing illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Officials said on July 3, at 3 p.m., the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a stolen vehicle possibly being in the Stephensville-Belle River area.
Deputies performed a search of the area and located the stolen vehicle traveling on LA 70 in Belle River. A traffic stop was initiated, and during a probable cause search of the vehicle, officials said they located illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Both Verret and Segura were booked into a St. Martin Parish jail on the following charges:
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (six counts)
- Possession of schedule I narcotics (three counts)
- Manufacture; distribution; possession with intent to distribute-schedule II narcotics
- Illegal possession of stolen things $5000.00 - $25,000
